Almost all search engines now will periodically trawl the web and download a copy of any pages that have changed.

The frequency of visits from search engines can vary quite a bit, so if your site has had a major overhaul or you've added some significant new content, you may find this is reflected more quickly in the search engines if you manually add your page again.

The new content will be found sooner or later though, so usually its easier to just let the search engines find your content naturally. It's also a bad idea to add your site too often as the search engine may actually penalise you for doing so if it looks like you are trying to trick their index.
