How do I manually submit my site to search engines?
With some search engines it is possible to manually add your site to their index if they have not noticed your new web site yet.
The process is really quite simple. You just go to the search engine you want to be added to and track down a link (almost always at the bottom of the opening page) that says Add My Site or similar.
Then, just type in your web site address and generally that's all there is to it.
As mentioned elsewhere, the vast majority of all web searches are done through a relatively small number of search engines, so we recommend you stick concentrate your efforts on the bigger search engines. This includes, for example:
A final point to note is that Yahoo is mostly a human-compiled directory rather than an automated, computer-generated index like most other search engines (e.g. Google).
As such, the process of adding your page to Yahoo is more in depth and not all submitted sites will actually appear in the Yahoo directory. To get a quick listing in Yahoo! these days generally you need to pay Yahoo! for it.
